Soling OptionsAs well as choosing your leather colour you have the option of choosing your own soling, insoling colour and thread colour on your footwear! Making each pair truly bespoke.

CUSHIONED soling
This sole is used by orthopaedic specialists and once you've worn it you can see why! Air cushioned heel for super shock absorbency (I've had a customer who bought a pair of boots with these soles on and has worn them everyday for over 2 years and only just had them resoled!) We cant fly but with these soles we can imagine we might be!
Available in sizes 4 - 12 with limited width. Available colours: black or brown (buff shown has been discontinued). Soling height is approximately 20mm to 30mm at the heel.

SQUIDGE soling
This is my most flexy, spongy 'I don't want to take them off' soling!! Striped or plain 'liquorice allsorts' platform sole. The striped middle can be navy blue, brown, black, white, red or purple OR can simply match the soling colour.
Super back friendly with no heel, just as nature intended! Superb shock absorbency & flexibility on this sole so good for all styles.
Thick, flexible, non slip tread outer sole available in black and brown only. Soling height is approximately 15mm to 20mm. Available in all sizes and widths.

SLIM soling
A more delicate option suited to pretty much all the styles. Can be easily resoled (or if you want a much grippier sole) have textured half soles fitted by any cobbler, thus extending your beloveds use for many more years to come.
Available colours: black & brown. Soling height is approximately 15mm. Available sizes 4 - 8 in any width.

WEDGE soling
Lightweight EVA wedge soling for a lovely cushioned foot bed. I find this soling to be very comfortable underfoot with good shock absorbency properties. After a summer of wear on a my pair of MOTH they have worn well with little change in the tread! Deep ribbed tread.
Available colours: dark brown only. Soling height is approximately 25mm at the heel graduating down to 15mm at the toe. Available in sizes 4 - 12 in any width.

BAREFOOT soling
Rubber soling with mini ridged tread for grippy, flexible feet! Flat soling with no heel, just as Mother nature designed us! These are superb for summer sandals where you want to feel like you are 'barefoot' but want your soles to be protected.
Available colours: Black. Soling height is approximately 10mm across the whole sole. Available in all sizes, in any width, for any style.
INSOLING leathers
Your shoes will be made with very thick leather insoling for odour free comfort. Each sole is stamped with the FAIRYSTEPS logo (men's sizes will have the more discreet FS or WOODZIES logo stamped inside). There is no plastic whatsoever inside your shoes to cause discomfort or perspiration. Insoling colours are as follows: Oatmeal, Lichen, Rust, Black. Most styles (except those stating otherwise) will be fitted with one of these insoling colours.
I tend to choose a colour which tones well with the uppers, i.e. Oatmeal with pink, lichen with greens, browns and blues, and black with black or darker shades. You can choose your own colour or leave it to me.
THREAD COLOURS
I use a variety of different coloured threads when shoemaking. I tend to find something that tones well with the leather colour BUT if you fancy something quite striking, like scarlet thread on black leather then please let me know! Most customers leave the thread choice to me.
